Went out a few weeks and headed into East Middle Georgia for a bit.  I actually ended up catching a host of good shots along the way towards the town of Warm Springs, Georgia.  For those who don’t know, Warm Springs is the location of “The Little White House” and was one of President Roosevelts favorite locations to visit in the South.  FDR loved the place for it’s assetic beautfy and natural mineral warm springs. Rumor is he would frolic nude with the whole original white house staff in Warm Springs for weeks at a time (including nude, but still working, secret service).  Ok, that’s a blatant lie… but it sounded more interesting then FDR maxing and relaxing in his swim skivvies and all that.

Anyhow, These are the best of the ones I caught:

Art Class Brillance

This is, Quite Simply, and amazing sign created from rusted metal and paint.  It needs no witty comment; simply bask in it’s brilliance for a moment.

Breeze Fed AC

Yup, it’s a old house… and a field. Kind of generic, but I like it.

Father Like Son

I like this shot.  It’s both the old school and new school styles of Bluebird School buses. I think they have a new style now with a flat nose… looks ugly as hell.

The Dark Room

Caught this one in a old abandoned house (as you could guess).  I enjoy these depth showing shots for some reason.

No Thru Traffic Damnit

This here is the Red Oak Creek Bridge, also known as Imlac Bridge. This bridge is often referred to as the longest covered bridge in the state, this bridge has a very long (250 feet) timber-decked approach on one end. So while the bridge itself is the longest wooden bridge, the longest covered section of bridge still belongs to the Watson Mill bridge. However, the unsupported span length of this bridge may well be the longest in the state at 115 feet. Anyhow, it’s pretty cool looking, and I enjoy this pic; especially since there is only a handful of covered bridges left in GA (Literally, I beleive there are only 16 left standing).

Well, that’s all I got.

Holler.

Sorry everyone for the lack of posts… in fact, I think it’s been almost about a month to two months since I last posted anything.  The truth is, I just now got back into the swing of things and was able to find some time to go out and shoot.  I had an amazing internship for the last pat of the summer in the Hot’Lanta that took up all my time (well, that and commuting). I actually will still be interning there, but only once a week from now on… thus, I’ll have some more time to go out and shoot and post some as well.

So, the other day I went out to shoot for the later part of the day.  I started off in Rosehill Cemetary located here in Macon, GA. I don’t normally shoot in cemetaries… as i think it’s slightly weird to constantly shoot JUST cemetaries.  Granted, that’s just my opinion… and I will say there are some Good caputres to be had, especially if your a statue person. Anyhow, I was really looking foward to this voyage, especially because the Allman Brothers are buried here.  Unfortunitly, I was unable to locate those gravesights. Not because I didn’t try… but because I am an idiot and I hoofed it on foot thinking that would be best. Wrong choice.  Rosehill Cemetary is friggin’ MASSIVE. Thus, I was only able to see part of the whole area. I did catch one or two good shots though:

A Mothers Love

This one is most likely my favorite catch. I just really enjoy the angle and light that got caught right then.

Shes a Cutter

I love this one personally, but it’s not a great catch or anything.  The title makes it awsome (She’s A Cutter).

Ouch

I like the angle and coloring on this one, but the light sucked, and I way overdarkened it.  But still, it’s intresting.

I Think Ill Hold Out for a Bit

Love this one.  I like the depth and light on it.

Hopefully No Child Was Left Behind

This, now is more of an intresting subject then a great picture.  This is a old, abandoned highschool in the Hood down here in Macon.  I really wanted to go inside, but i’m no idiot… The back doors were open, I could hear people or things bumping around inside… and the fact that when I drove around the back of the Gym I def. pulled up on a drug deal going on. Three guys were hanging outside of their cars which were parked right next to each other, and when they saw me pull around the corner they went right back into the car, and I got the hell out of dodge.

Musella Townhall

After shooting Rosehill and then the old highschool, I ventured out about 45 minutes to Musella, GA.  It’s a really small, old town, but had some good catches, like this old cotton gin up above.

CFHays General

Also this General Store.  It’s called the C.F. Hay’s Gen. Store… but I know nothin about it.  But, it was a good one for shooting.

We have a Runner

And finally, this is a picture of a peach packageing plant across the street from the general store.  I enjoyed this shot alot.  Well, that’s all I got for now.  Hope you like them. .. Oh yea, and how weirdly awsome is the sign below!?

The Roadside Polygraph Station

Holler.

Wow, sorry for the long time since my last post… Alot of stuff has gone down lately that has kind of slightly my freetime, abilty to get around, and all around want to go out shooting anything. Specifically, I managed to wreck my car…. one block away from my house going about 20 miles an hour.  No B.S.

Granted, the roads were wet and my brakes locked up… but still, it was a sad wreck.  Literally totaled my beautiful little black BMW on a trailer hitch of a Montero Sport… which had absolutly no damage.  How crazy is that?  My engine was scrambled like some sick version of metalic morning eggs…. with a cup of coolant and oil…. all over the road.  Atleast I wasn’t hurt… but that air bag burns like a bitch. Thankfully, the rents bought me a new camry, so I’m atleast not riding the bike or the bus.  Gotta love the rents… still taking care of a 25 year old son. poor folks.

Anyhow, The only thing I’ve done lately really was go down to Perry, GA for a little bit… about 2 hours.  Plus, It started raining almost right when I got down there, so I really didnt get to capture to much that was great.  But still, I did manage to get 3 fairly cool catches.  Of yeah, and one right up the street from me that I just thought was good:

Old-School-Hair-Mechanics

This is the Owner and talented Mofo of the Perry Barber downtown.  He’s a good guy.  I love his pose… classic.  I do think this is way to overdone on the yellow photofilter… maybe I’ll fix it up and take it back to good old contrasty black and white… then again, maybe I wont.

Peert-1-Hollywood-0

This would b the old Perry Theater… which, as you can tell, did not make it.  Apparently people in Perry dont watch movies? Perry = 1, Hollywood = 0.

Out-to-Lunch

And this… this a tractor… nothing amazing… but I like it.

Seems-Slightly-Ironic

This one really makes me laugh… the sign compared to the barb wire… just ironic!

Anyhow, thats all I got.  I will be doing somemore rural shooting this week, and i have a model shoot planned on Sunday, so I’ll post up some new stuff here soon, trust me.

Holler

Thank God… I’m four days out until my last final, and friday could not come soon enough.  Well, I take that back… I still need to study for my last final… but I’m sure you get the point.  My brain feels about like a bowl of pudding on boil, my bags under my eyes are so hardcore that I look like a bad love child between a Zombie and a Crack-Head, and my hands keep constantly shaking from to much sleep deprivation like I have low grade Parkinson’s Disease. All this for school… What am I doing?  I remember the hallowed days of undergrad when I could drink like a sailor and still cruise through school with a all-A average.  Now I have to work my butt off just to make sure I can stay on top of the curve.  But, It will be worth it… when ever those days might actually come….

But, besides my messed up body and mind from information overload, I was able to do a shoot this last Saturday.  It was actually a damn good repreive from studying, though I it did have it’s own suck-points. Specifically, I’m pretty sure I either can’t find a location on a GPS locator, which is pretty sad if such is the case, or one of my more preffered abandoned house locations on Highway 81 was demolished… or possibly lost in the overgrowth…. I can’t be sure.

Anyhow, Like I said, I had a shoot with two models from Gray, Nikki and Melissa. My main location, which I had planned almost the entire day of shooting around was an abandoned house located outside of Jeffersonville on Highway 80.  Of course, I haven’t been there in about two months, but, it’s abandoned house… not like it’s going anywhere, right?

Well, it did. I’m pretty sure it got demolished, but I can’t be 100% sure… anyhow, after the models got all there make-up done and all that goodness, we loaded up the car and headed out there to house…. which wasn’t there. But don’t think I gave up. Hell no.  I spent a good hour and half with two bored women in the backseat, crusing up and down, up and down highway 80.  Finally, after simply admitting I was a dumb ass, I gave it up. You know, what even makes this situation so much more frustrating is this is the SECOND time this has happened to me.  Almost as soon as I find a good one, it gets demolished.

I guess I need to learn to go look for the darn places the day before, instead of two months later…. But that’s asking alot, you know?

But, the shoot still went well.  We shot at five other locations, though I had almost nothing specifically planned at these locations, since I based all my set-ups on the dissapearing homestead.  So, the shoot turned out to be more of an ad-hoc shoot, with less artistic focus and more casual focus. Still, I was able to come up with a few good ideas on the fly that seemed to have panned out somewhat well, though not quite what I was looking for.  Screw it though, I enjoyed it, and the shots are good, so I’m not complaining.

As of now, and there is still alot more shots that need to be worked-over, these would be my top five:

a1

I enjoy this one very much.  I especially like the way the staircase draws the eye up and is the main focal point… almost as if the models are secondary.  But it all comes together fairly well, specially with the aged look I think.

a5

I just enjoy this one.  The prop is a little overbearing, but it gets the point across.  Nikki did a good job with playing the role, to a T.

a4

This one was just a good pose set up, nothing else.  The modding is a little overbearing to be honest. But, who cares, doubt it would show or sale anyhow, so I’ll leave it as it is. Wouldn’t look very good printed though… but I like it.

a3

Very much enjoy this one.  I tried to give it a 1950’s type of feel, which I think came out well, specially void of props and all that goodness. The contrast is a little heavy, but it’s all gravy. It’s still a darn good photo that hit the mark.

a2

This one is not the best, but it’s also intresting considering the simple set up. It’s just a picture behind a hand rail, to, yep, you guessed it, resemble a sort of barrier/cage situation.  I hate to say made to resemble bars, because that sounds stupid… but that’s fairly acurate I guess.  The vignette really completes it and takes it out of the realm of pure cheesy and into sufficently workable.

Well, those are the top 5, atleast as of now.  There’s a good deal more, and will be more coming form that shoot for about the next week.  I take breaks and do one or three, then get back to studying, so they are slightly slow in the turn around…. but they are coming. Should have another shoot in a week or two, can’t remember exactly to be honest.

Holler.

Here’s the article. No, I’m still to lazy to copy it, the very kind art director emailed it to me : ((You Can download It Here).

Iwrestledabearonce Smells Like Kevin Bacon Video

Not alot going on at the moment… Really getting close to wrap up the end of the year and get ready for the summer. On the same note, I finally found a hound dog sitter thankfully so I can actually stay up in the ATL and not commute every day (Because that would suck hard core.)

300_dpi_52x78_version_2

In the photography realm, I finally saw one of pictures that was recently published in Lake Oconnee Living Magazine. It’s the shot here above. Likewise, they provided me a good little paragraph sized artist biography as well, which was nice. I would actually scan it in for posting, but I’m real busy, and that’s just to much work at the moment for a blog posting!

I actually haven’t gotten out and shot any for my middle-Ga Project in a few weeks.  I plan on going out sometime this week and taking some, but who knows, that might change.  I likewise have been contacted about doing some paid model shoots here in the future, which would be nice, as I’m quite broke at the moment.  But, I’ve come to understand that paid model shoots are the ones that get flaked on the most. I’d say a good 60% of those I set up flake, so I’m not counting on the money.  Plus, I’m about to win the lottery tommorow night, so I’m really not all that worried about fincial woes.

On the more fun side, this sunday me and some friends are going up to fill some roles as tough redneck/bikers in a new music video for the band, “Iwrestledabearonce”.  The band is heavy, yet unique. I’m not a huge fan myself, but my buddies are huge fans, and I’m down for almost anything.  Anyways, should be alot of fun, I’m looking foward to it. Take a look at them below if your of the inquisive sort.

Well…Holler.

Spring Break 2009…. is about over.  What, you might ask, amazing thing did I do?  Cruise the strip in Panama City yelling at random folks to show me their goods in exchange for some high quality bead accsessories? Cruise the Green-Yellowish sand of Daytona Beach while drinking non-alcoholic O’Douls through a funnell? Head down to an all inclusive Cancun booze fest and tragicly sink a single man sail boat?

Well…. None of the above. In actuality, I sat here in Macon and studyied for a upcoming evidence test I have… next month.  But that’s not all.  No, I also caught up on my laundry, did some massive spring cleaning, repaired a toliet, installed a towel rack, and fixed a door handle.  Oh yes… I was a man of few inhibitations this week, that’s for sure.

Moreover (and sadly for a 24 year old), I gained a new habit. While studying, I always leave the T.V. on for the background noice.  I actually don’t like T.V. all that much, so i normally leave it on the cartoon channel (see there, atleast the commercial don’t totally suck). I never really watch it, just look up from time to time to see what some loud wack is and such.  For the most part, it’s work out wonderfully during my college years… I get stuff done, and I have a bunch of little breaks to take my mind off of something for a bit that is actually not terribly boring…. untill now.  This week, it occured to me that I had begun to do something… something terrible.

I have been watching complete episodes of Ben 10. Yes. Ben 10.. preferably the Alien Force one (There’s like three shows involving Ben 10.) I didn’t mean to, I won’t say I didn’t want to…because it would be a lie. But… I have to admit… I like the show. For those of you who have no idea what it is, look it up… it’s like a cartoon version of Power Rangers… no B.S. But, I admit it, not so proudly, but, I LIKE BEN 10. (I’m thinking about getting the action figure tommorow. (That oen was a joke…well, maybe.)

Also, Thursday I did a photoshoot with a model, Nikki Williams from Grey, GA.  It was actually a wonderfully succsessful shoot. So far, and I’m still working on the altering and modding, but these are the top f shots in my view:

nikki-williams-40nikki-williams-37nikki-williams-23nikki-williams-19nikki-williams-8nikki-williams-44

Nevermind…that’s six.  Well, anyhow, those are the ones I’m digging out of the bunch as it currently sits.  Good lookin’ model huh?  Yeah, she’s a mother of four.

I can’t even take care of one depressed hound dog. But I try, damn.  I try hard.

Holler.

Yes, I know I take alot of shots in Eatonton and Putnam County. But, I must admit, I’m partial to the area.  As far as finding good stuff to shoot, the town is ripe. Besides, it’s my girlfriend’s hometown; thus iI tend to be there a good amount.

Anyhow, here’s a few shots from Eatonton I took a little bit ago:

 z5

z4

This is the Br’er Rabbit statue that sits outside of the courthouse in Eatonton.

z3

This one, and the one below a few (You can see the same sign it if ya look), is an old boarded up Train Depot on the old Industry side of town.  Very cool little area for Rural Decay shots of Industry stuff.  I enjoy rural decay of industrial set-ups, but it’s often hard to get to…( In Mac-Town it’s just not the safest place to go a venturing with a bag full of Camera stuff, ya know)

z2

This is actually taken in Jones County.  I came across this set-up on my drive home from E-town to Mac-Town and couldn’t resist.  Looks like they grew old together in my opinion.

z1

This is the Civil War Memorial that sits in front of the E-town Courthouse (I enjoy the angle for some reason, plus I think the free-space adds something…unique?  Who knows.)

z6

Well, that’s it.  Sorry for the lack of commentary, I’m a little tired at the moment as it gets closer to finals time.  Ah the life of a law student… Anyhow, I’m gonna go get some shooting done down in Julliette, GA here in a few days, so look for a new post soon.

Holler.

So I was actually able to get away from working to go out and do some shooting today.  I’ve been getting more jobs then I can keep up with lately. hopefully its a sign the economy is turning around.

Anyhow, below is a design I recently made. I orginally made it for a “client” who ended up being a sham of a client in actuality. Last time I take on a job without doing proper research on the company.  Anyhow, worst comes to worst, I got enough info to go to magistrate court and get my pay.  Still, it’s just such a hassle. Normally I wouldn’t even deal with it, but this person just ended up acting like a child.

just-run

As for the photos, I went out to the Fort Valley Area/ Peach County after school today.  I didnt run into a massive amount of stuff that caught my eye, but it really is all about what roads you decide to go down. Anyhow, below is the ones I managed to come away with:

someones-dayseat

peaches-pecans-and-pink

birthplace-of-school-kid-traumas1all-out-of-pompom-pillows1

All I have to ask is… what the hell is a pompom pillow?  I mean for real…

Anyhow… holler.

Well, I’m sorry to say that it’s been about two weeks since my last post… and equally as long since I’ve done any good, post worthy type of photography.  Truth is, I’ve been busy as hell.  For some reason, over the last two weeks, I’ve picked up a fair amount of Design and Photo gigs which have sapped me of the time to do much of anything (well, that plus I had a patent law test which required a damn long amount of study time…. I don’t care who you are, patent law is hard as hell to learn!) But, the good news is I’ve been making some ok moolaaa… least enough to part way insure I can pay next months rent! Of course, shooting babies and making logos isn’t the most exciting work… but damn, it’s work. And right now I think everyone can agree work is a good thing.

night_hawks_watching____by_bosstones22

I did go see the Watchman movie though… and it was AMAZING.  Long as hell… a good three in a half hours almost.  But I’m proud that hollywood didn’t flat out screw up one of the best graphic novels of all time.  I won’t lie, I was worried.  But it was all good. Anyhow, besides beig a damn good movie, the soundtrack was amazing.  So amazing, in fact, I hunted down all the songs in the movie and made me a CD of the all.  I suggest you do the same! Here’s the list…  the only one I wasn’t a fan of is the Chemical Romance song… which I think is a Bruce Springsteen cover… but it sounds so damn terrible I can’t be for certain:

1. Desolation Row My Chemical Romance No Stars So…. This song blows.
  2. Unforgettable Nat King Cole 4 Stars
  3. The Times They Are A-Changin’ Bob Dylan 5 Stars Great use in the movie.
  4. The Sound Of Silence Simon And Garfunkel 3 Stars
  5. Me And Bobby McGee Janis Joplin 2 Stars It…worked. I hate Joplin.
  6. I’m Your Boogie Man K.C. And The Sunshine Band 5 Stars Amazing Song.
  7. You’re My Thrill Billie Holiday 3 1/2 Stars
  8. Pruit Igoe & Prophecies Philip Glass Ensemble 4 Stars First time I heard this one.
  9. Hallelujah Leonard Cohen 3 Stars
10. All Along The Watchtower Jimi Hendrix 3 1/2 stars Corny Use in the Movie.
11. Ride Of The Valkyries Budapest Symphony Orchestra 3 Stars Its what it is.
  12. Pirate Jenny   ????

13. The End Is the Begining Is The End Remix

Last song is by the smashing pumpkins… but i have no idea who remixed it?  Also, I have no idea who the artist is for “Pirate Jenny”.  All in all though, its a damn good CD!

Anyhow, maybe I’ll have some more intresting stuff here this week… But while the work is a-flowin’….

Holler.
